You are where it's beautiful

The 'Bett & Berg' is closely linked to the history of the Katrin as a sports and hiking mountain. This is evident from the hotel's location directly on the finish slope of the ski run and almost directly next to the valley station of the cable car. Today, the Katrin is a popular mountain for ski tourers and snowshoe hikers in winter and for hikers and via ferrata climbers in summer. In addition, 'Bett & Berg' is also the right place to stay if you want to discover and experience the imperial town of Bad Ischl and the entire Salzkammergut region. May it be sporty, cultural or culinary. You can already look forward to a time in the middle of one of the most beautiful holiday regions in Europe.

Quite adventurous

Climbing

In your accommodation there is a climbing hall with a self-securer and a 135m long indoor/outdoor via ferrata. The via ferrata is 135m long and is located in the staircase and outside the building on its front.
Attention: There is no climbing equipment for rent on site!

Opening hours: Daily from 09:00 - 21:00

For more info on the climbing hall, visit: www.alpenverein.at/bad-ischl/kletterhalle/

For the more adventurous, take the gondola up to the Katrin nature reserve for a Katrin via ferrata with a fantastic view of the most beautiful lakes of the Salzkammergut.

Hiking

The Salzkammergut is a real natural paradise. How practical that you can hike into it right from your room door. For example, up the Katrin. Or you can take the Katrin crossing, a great summit hike with breathtaking panoramic views. You can also stroll directly from 'Bett & Berg' along the Traun River to the pilgrimage town of Lauffen. Or continue on to the idyllic Bad Goisern. In short: you have all the options. Here are a few more suggestions

Mountain Experience Katrin Cable Car

The Katrin cable car right next to the 'Bett & Berg' takes you comfortably to the Katrin Alm nature reserve. Don't forget to take a hiking map at the valley station. Because at the top there is a well-marked network of paths and an adventure trail for little mountain enthusiasts with many stations to discover, explore and play. When you're feeling superhungry, the Katrin Almhütte and the Berggasthof have a feast in store for adventurers big and small.

Biking

Where there are mountains, there are mountain bikers. In fact, the Salzkammergut is considered a hotspot for the scene. This is also where the legendary Salzkammergut Mountain Bike Trophy takes place here every year. If mountains on two wheels are too strenuous for you, the numerous cycle paths around Bad Ischl offer wonderful opportunities. How about a leisurely bike trip to Lake Hallstättersee or Lake Wolfgangsee, for example?

Sisipark

When Emperor Franz resided in Bad Ischl in the olden days, Sisi was usually at his side. The town has created a beautiful monument to the beautiful and legendary empress in the form of the Sisipark. Only a short walk from the 'Bett & Berg', it is also a little paradise for children with its two outdoor playgrounds and water games.

Zauner Grand Café

Just a few steps after the Sisi Park, the time-honoured Zauner Grand Café awaits you on the esplanade along the Traun River. The former purveyor to the court and confectioner is usually at the top of the to-do list for visitors to Ischl. So if you want to enjoy Zauner croissants, Zauner Stollen, chocolates and pastry variations with fine coffee, cocoa or tea, then head there. To the Zauner

Spa Park

In the centre of Bad Ischl, the Kurpark lies at the feet of the Congress and Theatre House. Every year, the industrious gardeners of Ischl transform it into a colourful sea of flowers that you must see. There is also a music pavilion in the middle of the park, where music is regularly played in summer. In short: the Kurpark is a feast for the eyes and ears.

Bad Ischl Thermal Baths

Salt & brine is the motto in the so-called Kaisertherme in Bad Ischl. Ideal for relaxing after or instead of sport with health-promoting side effects. Look forward to an exclusive thermal landscape both indoors and outdoors. With water at up to 36 °C, bubble loungers, whirlpools, a spacious sauna world, a tastefully staged outdoor area and much more. Take a look right now

Imperial Villa and Imperial Park

Where Empress Elisabeth and her Franz once spent their summer months, you too can follow in the footsteps of a royal summer retreat at any time. Guided tours of the Kaiservilla are also offered in winter. With the Marmorschlössl and the pavilions in the park, the entire complex is inseparably linked to the memory of Sisi, as she was known in the family. Visit the Kaiservilla online

Quite close

Wildenstein castle ruins - 15 minutes' walk

We almost called the 'Bett & Berg' 'Bett & Burg'. Because the only castle in the Salzkammergut is only a 15-minute walk away. The ruins, which were supposedly built by robber barons in the 11th century, show their age and the fact that they have burned down twice. The last time the fire raged was in 1715.

The legend has it that the robber baron's castle is inhabited by an enchanted damsel who is now waiting for redemption in the burnt ruin. Small additional tip: After you have redeemed the damsel, it is also worth taking a few steps west to the pond meadow. This is where the fish ponds for the castle used to be.

Rudolfsbrunnen (In front of the house)

The Rudolf Fountain is located directly next to the valley station of the Katrin cable car, about 50 metres from the entrance to 'Bett & Berg'. It is so called because Archduke Rudolf, Cardinal Archbishop of Olomouc, donated it in 1825. But age has left its mark. Back then, the jet of the fountain shot up 10 metres, but today it only manages a few centimetres. Well!

Sculptur of the Emperor - 10 minutes walk

The good people of Ischl gave this work of art to their Emperor Franz Joseph in 1910 for his 80th birthday. At that time, 3,000 hunters from all over the Monarchy paraded past the monument to celebrate the day. The marble plaque attached to the Emperor's hunting statue bears the following inscription: "To their Most High Hunting Lord - The Faithfully Devoted Hunting Team of Austria. To 18 August 1910."
